Happyland, Tondo, Manila

Bynum, professional football player for the Minnesota Vikings and founder of the Bynum Faith Foundation, Inc., tried his cooking skills and helped New Life Community Care Foundation’s Mobile Kitchen Team to prepare packed meals of Chicken Adobo with rice for a feeding operation in Happyland, Tondo. Together with New Life Tondo, we were able to feed 600 kids and adults alike.
Happyland, Tondo is known as the poorest slum in Manila, where about 12,000 people live on a dumpsite surrounded by big piles of garbage. Amidst the squalor and poverty, the people of Happyland are all smiles, warm, and very welcoming. This act of service hopefully provided some relief and joy to the residents there. It was truly a humbling experience to serve and love the people of Tondo.
